On 15 September 2018, people worldwide came together for World Cleanup Day – cleaning up litter and waste from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets. SheerGuard SA along with volunteers from the community eagerly took on the challenge and met at the Klein Jukskei River at Robyn Park where they collected over 60 bags of trash along the river banks to aid in the cause. We were met with open arms by the Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative; an organisation who since 2015 have tirelessly and painstakingly taken it upon themselves to make the river safe, clean and accessible in a sustainable manner, for the greater community to enjoy. Doing good, feels great but as if that weren’t enough, the volunteers were rewarded at the end of the day with boerewors rolls supplied by SheerGuard SA and a very well-deserved cold beer sponsored by Copperlake Brewing Co. Thank you to all who came to support such a worthy cause and share this special day with us including Captain Whitehead from the Douglasdale Police Station, a Commander of Douglasdale CPF Sector 1 as well as Sihle Makhanya from PixelLens Media who was there to capture the highlights below.
